so, today, I decided to hunt for the
cheapest cycle in london. easily done. and clearly, there comes in a time in every mal-aadjusted adolesents' life when the illicit temptations of this particularly depraved course of action overpower your senses of decency, of uprightedness.. where was i?

so i hunted down the place where london's ever efficient police (met, scotland yard - the might even be the same thing) and the various bailiffs and liquidators sell their stuff. Â and for some reason, about 80% of the stuff i found there were the cycles/bikes i was seeking. in various stages of disrepair - although some of the them were in pretty good knock, with maybe a handful in such great form i could have pedalled them home.
for reasons that will one day be clear to you, i didnt buy any of them. (hell, they were STILL above my budget), but even though i came home empty handed, i wouldnt have missed it for the world. afterall, its not everyday you get
1) to see and smell so much pigeon guano you start wondering if its worth more than the crapheap of a car that its been deposited on (see exhibit)
2) sit through an auction where one of the items is 6 cans of heinz baked beans (some with sausages). if i recall, they went (en masse) to a lady called teresa, who bought them for £5
3)there was an auction for a single boot (of no particular pedigree, as far as i could tell), and yet, somebody bought it for a quid
4) 2 'touristic' souvenir from libya were also on offer.  thats where this guy is from (in case you had forgotten)
