My heart slips away from me;
Help O' people with a heart,
The pain, buried as a secret
is about to be exposed.
We are shipwrecked.
Arise, O' favourable wind!
Perhaps once more I shall see
the friend I knew so well.
The tranquillity of this world
rests on these two phrases:
'Be kind to your friends and
merciful to your enemies.'
We were forbidden from walking
the path of righteousness,
If you condemn us
then change the course of nature.
Hafiz, I haven't myself put on
this wine-drenched cloak,
O' Sheikh of the spotless gard,
pardon me my condition.
