Despite my looming exams, I could'nt resist the temptation to add an update on the pakistan mobile licenses saga.
Things have recently just taken a rather dramatic, if not unfathomable turn. The shadowy 'space telecom' that had emerged as the winner, crashing and burning. Unable to deposit there licence fees in time, the PTA has forfeited there $10 Mil. and offered warid telecom the slot.
Less than a month ago, i remember being rather
suspicious of this unknown entity. The inept telecoms minister meanwhile, had remained adamant that Space telecom was a 'European mobile telecommunication giant'.
Ah well, on the bright side, atleast we will now have a local company in the running too. It would have been too bad to see all profits repatriated abroad. [case in point: Mobilink]

To macro-economics i return...
