on voyeurism

Why does society seem like its gravitating towards increasingly voyeuristic tendencies. Why do we have an urge to look into other peoples live? Even orwell probably could'nt have thought up a society where people would seemingly encourage others to delve into the excruciating minutia of their daily lives. The very fact that you are reading this web log at all.... What is with people wanting to know what you had for breakfast? why should one care about the rantings of some dude down in Karachi, typing up stuff because he doesnt have anything else better to do. Dont we have enough problems of our own? Why do people watch those horrendous 'reality' shows anyways-and plus, whats so real about a bunch of lazy fags locked in a house, being provided with food and clothing and ample promiscious women? Being stranded on a small tropical island with sex crazed nymphs- reality? no, my friend, certainly not. What then? why do people go through this torture certainly no less severe than a thousand homevideos (even with the running commentry by the doting 'aunty')?
